Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar has visited Port Glasgow and Greenock to meet with local community groups and businesses. Anas Sarwar was joined by Martin McCluskey at a visit to Parklea Branching Out in Port Glasgow and at a business roundtable with more than a dozen local business leaders.

Commenting after the visit, Martin McCluskey said:

“It was great to have Anas in Inverclyde to see the great work that some of our local community groups and businesses are doing. We heard from staff and volunteers at Parklea about their plans for expansion and about the employability services they are offering to local people.

“We also heard directly from local businesses at our roundtable about the issues they are facing, and barriers to business that have been created by both the SNP and Tory Governments. Labour has been clear that increasing growth and getting our economy back on track will be a number one priority if we are elected later this year.

Anas Sarwar said:

“Inverclyde is a key part of the west of Scotland’s economy, the Scottish economy and, just being up front about it, a really important part of the road to a Labour government.

“I’ve said repeatedly that the road to a Labour government across the UK runs through Scotland, but you can actually go even more local than that: the road to a Labour government runs through Inverclyde.”
